Beauty News: ck one color

It's always exciting when a new beauty brand hits our shores, and ck one color is the latest international arrival.
Featuring sleek and modern packaging, the collection includes a great range of products in wearable shades, all with a great, long lasting formulation. The range is divided into three simple categories: "Look Real" (foundation, concealer and powder), "Define Yourself" (mascara, brow pencil, eyeliners, eyeshadow base, illuminator, bronzer, blush and lip pencil) and finally "Add Intensity" (eyeshadow, gloss eyecolor, lipstick, lipgloss, nail varnish and treatment lipkit).
One of my favourite products from the range is the 3 in 1 foundation, which is a serum, primer and foundation. I also love the color + treat lipkit as it includes a lip scrub, soothing balm, plumper, lip color and gloss all in one handy compact- such a great idea!

Beauty: Dermalogica Daylight Defense Kit

While we may be heading towards Winter, it's still always important to protect your skin from sun damage. Just as you would religiously cleanse, tone and moisturise, a good suncare product should be part of your daily skincare routine.
I'm loving Dermalogica's Daylight Defense Kit, as it includes four specialty suncare products, all in handy sizes. The first product is the Solar Defense Booster SPF30, which should be used after moisturising. It protects against both UVA and UVB rays, while also smoothing and soothing the skin with ingredients of grape seed, green tea and Vitamin's C and E.
Next, use the MultiVitamin Body Block SPF20 on exposed skin and areas especially prone to aging, such as hand. For on the go touch ups, use Solar Shield SPF15, which provides water resistant protection for up to 80 minutes, and is great for sensitive areas like lips and ears.
Finally, if you've been caught out in the sun for too long, use After Sun Repair to cool and soothe your poor burnt skin, as well as shorten recovery time.
So what if you can't be bothered to add suncare into your daily routine? Be prepared to face extra wrinkles, hyper pigmentation, premature aging and possible skin cancers- not pretty.

Interview with Caroline Blomst

Caroline Blomst is one lucky girl; Swedish model, owner of the fabulous blog Carolines Mode (which she runs with her photographer boyfriend) AND International face of my favourite alcholic drink -Rekorderlig. Caroline was in Australia recently for LMFF and to promote her Stockholm Street Style exhibition held in Sydney.
1. Blogging, and street style in particular, has really grown in the last few years. Why do you think it’s become so popular and what role do you think it will have in the future of modern media?
I think blogging has become very popular because it's very easy to reach. Everyone can view it all for free online and you can see many worldwide websites at the one time. I find it very interesting also to see how other people wear clothes, their sense of style and get inspiration from the street. Blogging is more unique, instead of seeing a magazine editorial fashion shoot where people have been styled by the editors, its nice to see people on the street and their individual style.
2. When I travelled to Sweden a few years ago I loved that everyone looked so clean and polished, even if they were quite alternative. How are you all so stylish?
I don't really thing everyone is so stylish in Stockholm, people think the grass is always greener. Most people in Stockholm are quite boring and they wear nothing original or out of the ordinary, a lot of people wear black and minimalist clothing. It's hard to chase down street style in Stockholm, as there really only is about a crowd of 200 people that are cool who we photograph. Stockholm people in general adapt a lot of trends because of the stores being so quick to turn around runway reports; they are very current with trends. For example, if there is a white shoe at the Celine runway show then H&M will have a copy of the shoes in three weeks so then people are wearing them straight away.
3. How do you view Australian style?
Australians style is very relaxed in comparison to Europe, people here dress very casual during the day and a bit more dressed up at night. There is a holiday feel to the way Australians dress, quite different to see especially coming straight from Europe.
4. What is your favourite go to outfit for:
a. Shopping?
I would usually wear jeans, t-shirt and boots when I go shopping, but they have to be my comfiest boots so I can walk for a long time. I also like to have a big bag for putting everything in.
b. A lazy weekend?
I would wear the same as shopping, but maybe with a Cashmere sweater and comfy pair of jeans and boots.
c. Night out with the girls?
I would definitely wear heels when I’m with the girls, I also would either wear denim or a even skirt but it would depend on the weather. I would wear also a tank top and maybe a blazer with the outfit.
5. What’s your favourite flavour of Rekorderlig (mine’s pear!)?
Wild Berries is definitely my favourite Rekorderlig flavour. It’s a hard choice though because I really love the Apple and Pear flavours too. I think I like Wild Berries the best because it tastes sweeter and I really love sweet things!
6. Finally, how would you describe the modern, fabulous woman?
The modern, fabulous woman is very independent, forward and stylish.

Beauty Review: Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat

Unless you've been living under a very unglamourous rock for the last two decades, Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat should need no introduction. But, in case you have, it's both the concealer to end all concealers and highlighter extraordinaire.
Admittedly it took me a while to try out this cult product, but since I have I've been hooked. I'm on my third wand in six months! Touche Éclat is one of my handbag staples and it's great as a quick makeup refresher and afternoon pick-me-up (and also much kinder on the hips than hitting the chocolate draw).
While under eye bags are it's main enemy, it's really a highlighting multi-tasker. Dot on and then smooth in the usual highlighter spots- brow bones, cheek bones, down the centre of the nose, along the cupids bow and anywhere else you feel needs a nice dewy glow!

Also, while I'm on the subject of Yves Saint Laurent, they've also just released a fabulous app, Color Mirror. This super clever app allows you to upload a photo of yourself, or use a pre-selected model, and test out all of their products and shades!
