Lately I have noticed an interesting new social trend emerging and I'm not sure if it's just between the girls I know but I doubt it's not. It seems us girls are starting to act more and more like guys. Now, by this I don't mean just the loudly drunken "ladette to lady" style behaviour(although we do like our alcohol!) but more the way in which we seem to be approaching relationships and dating. We like having girls only drunken nights out with our friends, are beginning to focus more on our careers, are not that ready to jump into serious commitments, objectify men by having pictures and calenders on our wall and by spending too much time doing internet searches for them (or is that just me?!), go out just to pick up and get upset if we haven't had sex in a while and we might return your call/message/wall post/status comment...if we feel like it. Combined with the manscaping trend, I wonder what traditional gender roles will continue to evolve into in the future?!Monday, March 30, 2009

Man of the Day: Chace Crawford

Who doesn't love Gossip Girl? And more importantly...who doesn't love Nate, played by the gorgeous Chace Crawford?! If you are really behind and have tragically not seen GG yet you can rent or buy it on DVD from April 15 (or you can always download it...please note I am not condoning illegal activity, just simply making an observation).
XOXO (you know you love me!)

L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2009
L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival finished on Sunday, after a week of Australian designer brilliance. A play on shape and form featured in most of the different shows, with ruffles, black tights and bright block colours dominating the runway. Personally, I found the independent designers stole the show (so to speak...). Here are some of my favourites.

Men of the day: Paul Walker and Vin Diesel
At the movies tonight I saw a trailer that I thought contained Vin Diesel...it was obviously an action movie and it was hard to tell who it was. This got me to thinking about Vin Diesel and how I could not believe that I hadn't already used him as a man of the day. Anyway the guy was revealed to not be him (boooo) but then the second guy in the clip was revealed to be Paul Walker (yaaaay). I also then realised that he was another guy that I couldn't believe I hadn't thought of and started to be slightly pissed of at my man memory. Then, an amazing thing happened. Vin Diesel was suddenly on screen. With a mixture of joy, excitement, a sense of awe that I had predicted his presence and another feeling that is possibly inappropriate for the publics of the internet, I finally understood how people can spontaneously combust. Ok, so maybe I'm going a little over the top but woweeeee, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker in one film! Actually, no not over the top. Oh and the film was a new Fast and the Furious which I wont go into detail about as I think there is already too much excitement in this post already. I couldn't decide which one to make man of the day today so, in a Modern Fabulous first, I present to you men of the day: Vin Diesel and Paul Walker!

Melbourne Fashion Week: Myer Show

Myer launced their fashion show for Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival last night. Recent economic issues seemed to have an impact on the show, with a shorter show, smaller venue and focus on affordable fashion. Myer's own brand, Basque, also made it's debut in the show. The show featured a lot of black, bright pinks and purples- not the colours I was expecting for the winter so far! Looks like I will be dragging my hot pink dress back out of the wardrobe!

Man of the Day: Ryan Reynolds

It's not all seriousness here at The Modern Fabulous H.Q (a.k.a currently my bed) so to lighten the mood here is another treat for your eyes- Ryan Reynolds. He was actually a suggestion from a friend of mine and while I wasn't too sure to start with a google image search certainly made it a yes (I suggest you give it a try yourself!). I always thought he was a cutie but never realised what an amazing body he has! If you didn't know (I didn't, must be behind on my celebrity gossip!) he is married to Scarlett Johansson so I think we can expect some genetically awesome offspring from them.
Ryan Reynolds- congratulations on being hot.
